Are cardboard boxes or paper shopping/grocery bags the superior cat hideyhole?
Good question! It depends on the context.

If I want to hide and keep an actively watchful gaze on my territory from the floor, you can't beat a paper bag. But add elevation and suddenly a cardboard box is far better. It's like a parapet, the tip-top of a castle! Cardboard boxes are also better for sleeping in, I just can't get comfy in a paper bag, I am smol but paper bags are smoller.

I know you didn't ask this, but paper bags are also really good toys - jump on one and it gives a satisfying crinkle that you just can't get anywhere else. Try it some time and you'll see what I mean. Paper bags also work as emergency grooming stations!
